Anne-Marie Trevelyan, MP for Berwick-upon-Tweed, has spent a day last week visiting shops and other businesses which recently re-opened as part of the latest lifting of lockdown restrictions.

The MP visited Barter Books alongside local councillor Gordon Castle, and went on to Robinsons clothing boutique, both in Alnwick.  She also stopped in to No Limits Health Club to see for herself the measures taken to make visits safe for customers.

Speaking of the visits, Anne-Marie said: “It is wonderful to be able to visit these local businesses in my constituency again, to talk to the staff about the challenges of the last year, and the ways in which they are making things safe for their customers.  They are all working so hard, and I would urge residents to support them by shopping local wherever possible.”

The MP, who is a supporter of Northumberland County Council’s Shop Local campaign, later had lunch at the Pig in Muck in Alnwick’s Market Square.

The visits were rescheduled as a result of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death, having been originally planned for shortly after part 2 of the restriction lifting commenced on 12 April.
