Storms Malik and Corrie - update from Anne-Marie
The batterings of storms Malik and Corrie, meant another set of power cuts across our county. I was in contact with Northern Powergrid throughout the weekend, and the repairs were much quicker this time around. All but 61 properties were reconnected by Tuesday morning. I set out details of how to claim reimbursement for storm-related expenses HERE.
This time around, I hear from Northern Powergrid immediately and received regular updates, which was a welcome improvement on Storm Arwen. I know some people still struggled to get through to report their power loss initially, and many of you are still waiting for your compensation claims to be paid from that storm. Ofgem's Chief Executive, Jonathan Brearley, replied to me this week to acknowledge the concerns I raised and confirm they will be taken into account as part of Ofgem's review, which I will be kept informed of - I will of course be reporting back to you once that review is complete.
